Free Baggage

Kuwait Airways passengers traveling from Kingdom of Saudi Arabia stations are permitted to carry one piece (5L) of ZAMZAM water as part of their free baggage allowance. However, please ensure strict compliance with the following regulations and procedures pertaining to ZAMZAM water transportation:

• Proper Packaging: ZAMZAM water must be appropriately packed and designated for air transport to minimize the risk of leakage or damage during handling and transit.
• Limited Release Tag: All ZAMZAM water transported by passengers must be affixed with a limited release tag.
• Interline Connections: ZAMZAM water will not be accepted as part of the free baggage allowance if the passenger has an interline connection. In such cases, passengers must adhere to the regulations and policies stipulated by the respective connecting airlines.
• Passengers Originated from Other Stations: Please note that ZAMZAM water will not be considered as part of the free baggage allowance for passengers who originated from stations other than Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

For the purpose of enhancing safety and security of passengers, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in coordination with Department of Airport security, Ministry of Interior is in the process of applying a new (ICAO) security measure related to the limitation of the allowable quantity of Liquids, Aerosols and Gels that can be carried onboard the Aircraft by all passengers travelling from Kuwait International Airport.

Implementation of this security measure will be effective with the following procedures:

• Passengers are only allowed to carry onboard a limited quantity of Liquids, Aerosols and gels in containers that do not exceed the capacity of one hundred Milliliter (100ML) each.
• Each container shall not exceed the capacity of one hundred milliliter (100ML) even if partially full.
• Those containers shall be placed in a designated security tampered evident bags provided by the Airport Authority. The capacity of the bags shall not exceed one liter (20cm x 20cm in size) and must be securely re-sealable.
• Every passenger is allowed to carry only one bag and this must be separately presented at the security check point.
• The items within the bag will be subjected to all types of security screening including random hand search of passengers and their belongings.
• Flight crew members and staff who are required to perform their duties (in uniform) are exempted from the above measures while on duty at the day of travel.
• Exempts from these security measures are prescription medicines, infant food, milk and formulas, health diet food with reasonable quantities required for the total duration of the flight taking into consideration the possibilities of flight delays or diversions. In any case the carriage of the above items onboard the aircraft shall be subject to security staff assessment. Moreover, passengers with such items are required to show official proofs of the necessity for these items upon request.
• All Liquids, Aerosols and Gels that are purchased from Duty Free sale points at the Airport or from onboard the Aircraft are permitted through transit check points provided that they are placed in appropriate transparent security evident tampered bags marked with the name of the country or airport of origin and/or airline and tagged prominently with the purchase invoice.
• The DGCA reserves the right to reconsider or apply more strict measures towards the carriage of Liquids, Aerosols and Gels including the sales of such items at duty free points and onboard the aircraft.

• Baggage allowances may vary according to route and Cabin Class. Please check the exact baggage regulations printed on your ticket.
• In addition to your Hand Baggage allowance, you can also carry personal items such as one small ladies handbag; one coat; one umbrella; one pair of crutches or walking stick; an infant's carrying basket; and one bag of Duty Free items purchased on the day of your flight.
• Most Significant Carrier (MSC) rules will apply in case of code share / interline travel.
• Liquid restrictions on Hand Baggage now apply to all customers boarding from or transiting through Kuwait International Airport as well as many other airports around the world. Please check relevant Airport restrictions before travelling.
• Please note that these checks may prevent you from carrying Duty Free liquid goods purchased prior to these flights, including items purchased on board, if carried as part of your normal hand baggage. You are advised to check regulations in place at all transit Airports.
• Sports equipment and musical instruments are subject to the same size and weight restrictions as other forms of cabin baggage and applicable transit point restrictions will apply if any.

• Due to international regulations, and to ensure the safety of our customers, there are a number of restrictions on items that can be carried in your Cabin Baggage. Items that may cause injury or represent any other security or safety threat can only be carried as Checked Baggage, and are not allowed in Cabin Baggage. These items should be appropriately packed for carriage as Checked Baggage, in accordance with IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations and relevant Kuwait Airways regulations.
• Only objects or personal belongings necessary or useful to the passenger for the flight and stay in the destination places are admitted as baggage (both checked and unchecked)

KAC is not liable for damage/pilferage or loss for the following items as checked baggage:

• Fragile or perishable articles.
• Liquids.
• Money, jewelry, precious metals, negotiable papers, securities or other valuables should be declared at the checking counter before accepting the baggage; staff should ask the passengers if they have such items.
• Samples or business documents.

Articles prohibited in the cabin of an aircraft and in the security restricted area for security reasons

• Guns, firearms and other devices that discharge projectiles

Devices designed to cause serious injury by discharging a projectile, or capable of being mistaken for such devices, including:

• Firearms of all types, including pistols, revolvers, rifles, shotguns
• Toy guns, replicas and imitation firearms capable of being mistaken for real weapons
• Components parts of firearms (excluding telescopic sights)
• Compressed air and CO2 guns, including pistols, pellet, rifles and ball bearing guns
• Signal flares pistols and starter pistols
• Bows, cross bows and arrows
• Harpoon guns and spear guns
• Slingshots and catapults.

• Stunning Devices

Devices designed specifically to stun or immobilize, including:

• Devices for shocking, such as stun guns (e.g. teasers) and stun batons
• Animal stunners and animal killers
• Disabling and incapacitating chemicals, gases and sprays, such as mace, pepper or capsicum spray, tear gas, acid sprays and animal repellent sprays.

• Objects with Sharp Points or Sharp Edges

Objects with a sharp point or sharp edge capable of being used to cause serious injury, including:

• Items designed for chopping, such as axes, hatchets and cleavers
• Ice axes and ice picks
• Razor blades, box cutters
• Knives with blades of more than 6 cm
• Scissors with blades of more than 6 cm as measured from the fulcrum
• Martial arts equipment with sharp points of sharp edges
• Swords and sabers.

• Workers Tools

Tools capable of being used either to cause serious injury or to threaten the safety of aircraft, including:

• Crowbars
• Drills and drill bits, including cordless portable power drills
• Tools with blades or shafts more than 6 cm. capable of use as weapons, such as screwdrivers, chisels
• Saws, including cordless portable power saws
• Blowtorches
• Bolt guns and nail guns.

• Blunt Instruments

Objects capable of being used to cause serious injury when used to hit, including:

• Baseball and softball bats
• Clubs and batons, such as Billy clubs, blackjacks and night sticks
• Martial arts equipment

• Explosives and Incendiary Substances and Devices

Explosive or incendiary substances or devices capable of being used to cause serious injury or threatening the safety of the aircraft, including:

• Ammunition
• Blasting caps
• Detonators and fuses
• Replica or imitation explosive devices
• Mines, grenades and other explosive military stores
• Pyrotechnics, including fireworks
• Smoke-generating canisters or cartridges
• Dynamite, gunpowder and plastic explosives
• Briefcases and security type attaché cases with installed alarm devices; or incorporative lithium batteries and/or pyrotechnic material
• Compressed gases (Deeply refrigerated, flammable, non-flammable and poisonous) such as camping gas and aerosols e.g. butane, oxygen, liquid nitrogen, aqualung cylinders
• Corrosive materials, such as mercury which may be contained in thermometers, acids, alkalis, and wet cell batteries
• Etiologic agents
• Flammable liquids such as lighter fuels, paints and thinner
• Flammable solids, such as matches and articles which are easily ignited; substances liable to spontaneous combustion; substances which on contact with water emit flammable gases
• Oxidizing substances (such as bleaching powder and peroxides)
• Poisonous (toxic) and infectious substances such as insecticides, weed-killers and live virus materials
• Other Dangerous Goods such as, magnetized material, offensive or irritating materials. Also, other restricted articles such as ropes and masking tapes regardless of the size and type.

• Liquid, Aerosol and Gels

Liquids, aerosols and gels, unless in individual containers with a capacity not Greater than 100 milliliters (or equivalent) and contained in one transparent re-sealable plastic bag of a capacity not exceeding 1 litre (or equivalent). The contents of the plastic bag shall fit comfortably, and the bag shall be completely closed. Exemptions should be made for medications, baby milk/foods and special dietary requirements.

Articles in baggage prohibited in the hold of an aircraft for safety reasons.

• Explosives and Incendiary Substances and Devices

Explosive or incendiary substances or devices capable of being used to cause serious injury or threatening the safety of the aircraft, including:

• Ammunition
• Blasting caps
• Detonators and fuses
• Replica or imitation explosive devices
• Mines, grenades and other explosive military stores
• Pyrotechnics, including fireworks
• Smoke-generating canisters or cartridges
• Dynamite, gunpowder and plastic explosives
• Briefcases and security type attaché cases with installed alarm devices; or incorporative lithium batteries and/or pyrotechnic material

• E-Cigarettes.

Electronic cigarettes, also known as E-cigarettes including e-cigars, personal vaporizers or electronic nicotine delivery systems, containing batteries are strictly prohibited in checked in baggage. The same can be carried for personal use in the carry-on baggage only. Use of E-cigarettes and E-cigars are always prohibited in the cabin.

KAC is entitled to verify, in the presence of the passenger the contents of his baggage.

U.S.A. Transportation Security Administration dated 20 July 2007 no longer enforces the ban of LIGHTERS on flights to / from or at any USA airports. However, torch lighters will continue to be banned in carry-on.

Items that may be carried subject to the Dangerous Goods Regulations Manual:

• Medicines and toiletries in limited quantities which are necessary or appropriate for the passenger during the journey, such as hair sprays, perfumes and medicines containing alcohol may be carried in hold or in cabin baggage provided that the net capacity of all packing used by the passenger for these articles does not exceed 2 kilograms (4.4 LB) or 2 liters (75 avoirdupois or fluid ounces) and the net capacity of each single package does not exceed kilogram or liter (1 pound or fluid ounces).
• Dry ice in quantities not exceeding 2 kilograms (4 pounds) per passenger, used to pack perishables, as carry-on baggage only.
• Personal smoking materials intended for use by an individual when carried on his person. However, lighter fuel and refills, and lighters containing unabsorbed liquid fuel are not permitted.
• Surgically implanted cardiac pacemakers containing radioactive material such as plutonium batteries.

Items that may be carried with the passenger subject to the Dangerous Goods Regulations Manual and the approval of the Carrier:

• Small gaseous oxygen or air cylinders required for medical use.
• Small carbon dioxide gas cylinders worn by passengers for the operation of mechanical limbs; also, spare cylinders of a similar size may be carried, if required, to ensure an adequate supply for the duration of the journey.
• Catalytic hair curlers containing hydrocarbon gas, no more than one per passenger, when contained in checked baggage, provided that the safety cover is securely fitted over the heating element. Gas refills for such curlers are not permitted in checked or carry-on baggage.
